Gateshead Youth Assembly is a
democratic group of young people who
are elected from local secondary
schools and other youth groups. The GYA
provides “a voice for young people”
living in the borough of Gateshead.
Councillor Mick Henry, Leader of
Gateshead Council thinks that,
“Young people are citizens of the
borough and Gateshead Council has a
commitment to give our young people the
very best start in life, through
education, and then into their working
lives.”
“Gateshead Youth Assembly does a great
job in getting young people to think
about democracy in their early years
and then beyond.”
